Let’s hope it’s a good one

Happy New Year, everyone — may 2015 treat you kindly.
On the last day of 2014, I find myself looking at the future with some of the same trepidation as last year (I suspect this feeling might never go away once it creeps in), and thinking I would be happy if next year turned out to be uneventful. Of course it would be great if nice things came to pass (and I do have some hopes, especially regarding trips I’d really like to make happen), but after two consecutive years defined by big negative events whose ripples I’m still feeling, a break from that pattern would be welcome. So here’s to a quiet year without any major misfortune (and lots of good books).
I have reading plans for 2015, but I’ll be traveling over the next few days, so I’ll come back with those on the 5th. Best wishes for 2015 and I will see you then.

ReplyDeleteThank you and likewise, Darren! I already have tickets for Belle & Sebastian, First Aid Kit and The Decemberists, so it's looking promising on the concerts front :D

ReplyDeleteA quiet, average, normal year is what I'm hoping for as well.
ReplyDeleteA year of subtle or subdued happiness without any extreme ups or downs sounds like a wonderful thing these days.
Wishing you all the best for the new year. The last two have been tryin for me too but hopefully 2015 will bring us joy and happiness, and plenty of great reads too :0)
ReplyDeleteThank you for the good wishes, everyone, and right back at you <3
ReplyDeleteEnormous hugs to you, Ana! I hope that 2015 brings you nothing but happiness, and plenty of wonderful books that you can then recommend to me.
ReplyDeleteI'm all about quiet myself. There's a wonderful Bertie Wooster quote about it - If there's one thing I like it's a quiet life. I'm not one of those fellows who get all restless and depressed if things aren't happening to them all the time. You can't make it too placid for me. Give me regular meals, a good show with decent music every now and then, and one or two pals to tot around with, and I ask no more.

Safe travels and happy new year.
ReplyDeleteHere's to a year that surprises you with how wonderful it is. You deserve it, Ana! :)
ReplyDeleteOh Darlin. I do hope you have a quiet year with no major misfortunes. But I hope so much more for you too. So much joy. So much fun. So much contentment. So much awesome travel. So many awesome books. So many wonderful surprises. Pretty much everything wonderful you could ever imagine. And then some. :D
ReplyDeleteI desperately want a quiet year. After last year, just making the wish for a quiet year is making me cry! 2014 was good in some ways, and awful in others. I look at it though as something in me saying, stop. Sit still. Rest. So that's what I'm doing.
ReplyDeleteA really quiet year would be awesome! So let's take our walks in nature, our sunsets and parks, libraries and museums, our families we love, and our books and cups of tea, and enjoy every moment of quiet that we can get in the coming year. Happy 2015 to you and your family, Ana. Happy reading good books, too :-)
Thank you <3
