Speculative Fiction 2013: I’m in a Book!

(No, not really in the Elephant & Piggie sense — I’m pretty sure my life would be more eventful if that were the case.)

Speculative Fiction 2013: The Best Online Reviews, Essays and Commentary
was published yesterday. The fact that it contain a review of Doll Bones by yours truly alongside, say, Sophia McDougall’s “I Hate Strong Female Characters” or Kameron Hurley’s Hugo-nominated essay “We Have Always Fought” is enough to a) blow my mind and b) give me what is probably the worst case of impostor syndrome I’ve ever experienced — and I’m not exactly new to the feeling.
Speculative Fiction 2013 edited by Ana Grilo and Thea James
But let me get to the point of this post, which believe it or not is not merely to go “Eep!” at you. Speculative Fiction 2013 was edited by Ana Grilo and Thea James, aka The Book Smugglers, and they’re giving readers everywhere the chance to win two paperback copies of the anthology. They also have details about another giveaway at Goodreads, this time for five copies and open to readers in the US, UK and Canada. You have until Saturday to enter the giveaway at The Book Smugglers, and until May 14 to enter the one at Goodreads.

In addition to telling you about the giveaways, I wanted to let you know that this cool book is now out there in the world in case you wanted to check it out. The list of contributors is seriously amazing, the pieces included are thoughtful and nuanced, and all sales proceeds will go to literacy charity Room to Read. I’m proud to be a part of Speculative Fiction 2013, and I hope you’ll enjoy it if you decide to check it out.
