A Little Break

I’m going to spend the next few days travelling, culminating with my long anticipated trip to Paris over the weekend, so I thought I’d let you know I’ll be absent from the blogging world until next week. Thank you all again for your very useful Paris recommendations! I read A Moveable Feast and The Most Beautiful Walk in the World in preparation (the first one was enjoyable; the second I didn’t get on with at all, unfortunately) and will be taking The Dud Avocado with me to read on the trip. Sadly there wasn’t time for more preparatory reading, but I have a feeling that when I come back from Paris I’ll be more in the mood for books set there than ever.
As for places to visit, right now my plans include going to the Musée d’Orsay (queues allowing), leaving the Louvre for a longer visit some day in the future, and visiting Shakespeare and Company and the sadly doomed Village Voice Bookshop (thanks Melissa and Sakura for the heads up!). I’m also following everyone’s advice and leaving lots of room for improvisation and for simply strolling around. Several of you told me it’s pretty difficult not to have a good time in Paris regardless of what your plans are, and I’m willing to bet you’re right.
I’ll be back next week with lots of pictures and hopefully some interesting stories to tell. See you then!

ReplyDeleteThank you so much, everyone! And Estrella Azul, thanks for the link! I will be there for most of Sunday, but unfortunately this past Sunday was the 1st of July so I'll have missed the free entry day. I was pretty bummed about that :P

ReplyDeleteOh, right... I'm off from work this week and it's throwing me off my game.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, on Sunday I was completely convinced that it was still May.
And today I'm still under the impression that it's only Monday; so sorry to be confusing you.
Hope the rest of the tips still help out :)
There's a link or more in there which lists some museums where there's half-price admission at certain hours (on Fridays if I recall correctly.)
Have fun Ana, and please do come back and share it with us all so we can live a little vicariously!

ReplyDeleteHave a good time! I agree with the recommendations of strolling around. There's definitely such a thing as too much scheduling for a holiday, some of the best places are always off the beaten tourist track.
