Ugh

Sick kitteh

I had a bit of a health mishap this past week, which would explain why I fell from the face of the earth (don’t worry, I’m okay now). It’ll probably take me a few days longer to get back on my feet, but the bookish chatter will eventually return to this space.

Meanwhile, Google Reader will inevitably get the Mark All as Read treatment, but I’d love it if you told me if I missed anything interesting. I really really mean it. I know people are often shy about leaving links to their own blogs, so feel free to point me towards someone else’s blog too. It will help keep me informed and entertained while I recover. You want to help keep me entertained, right?

  2. Hope you're feeling better soon. The colds and ick that have been making the rounds this year have seemed especially bad.

And since you asked for a link, I shall once again point you to more Kate Atkinson love in the form of Jenny's review of Behind the Scenes at the Museum: http://shelflove.wordpress.com/2011/01/22/behind-the-scenes-at-the-museum-review-2/

  10. Oh no. :( I've been so absent lately that I don't even notice when people go missing, not even my wonderful friends. I'm a bad friend. :/ I hope you feel better soon Ana!

Only two posts of note on my blog this week. First, I'm really seriously considering giving up writing: http://zenleaf.amandagignac.com/2011/01/personal-day-crisis-of-faith.html

Second, and this is only if you've read Jane Eyre already, I reread the illustrated version and go wild on my thoughts. :D http://zenleaf.amandagignac.com/2011/01/cw-jane-eyre-by-charlotte-bronte.html

  12. Sorry you were sick. I know that I personally am a terrible sick person: annoyed and annoying. :)

I posted on the interesting discussion of beauty versus intellect in Vindication if you are interested: http://www.eclectic-eccentric.com/2011/01/to-gain-affections-of-virtuous-man-is.html

  15. I'm so sorry my dear :( I hope you feel better soon!! I reviewed Kate Beaton's book and NO ONE commented I think because I offended everyone with the comic I shared :p It is the Shelley, Percy, Byron one, lol.

  18. I hope you feel better soon, Nymeth! Take good care of yourself......I posted today about a few of the books I like from around the world, but mostly just meandering because it's one of those days over here. Super cold - like the coldest day in over 10 years. I don't want to go outside tomorrow! I want to be sick too! lol not really, I just don't want to step out of my house. It's that cold!

  23. How awful to be ill. Hope you'll be well soon. And yes, I did miss your posts! :-)

I'm not sure I'm in your Google Reader, but just in case, since you like a good book and maybe even willing to give one away, I wanted to let you know about the Literary Giveaway Blog Hop that I'm hosting (it'll run in February). Maybe you'd like to participate; http://leeswammes.wordpress.com/2011/01/24/literary-giveaway-blog-hop-february-19-23/

  24. Awww that is rubbish that you have been sick, get well soon!

    Also... cutest kitty ever.

I have got active the last week or two and have had lots of reviews up - I would definitely recommend all the books I reviewed last week as good for sick people in bed!

  25. Sorry you have been so poorly. I did wander where you had gone and thought perhaps you had gone on holiday.

I wrote a post that I hoped might make you laugh. Typically English humour. Might cheer you up if you have been poorly http://serendipityteacher.blogspot.com/2011/01/life-as-we-know-it-my-dog-doesnt-love.html

  26. *hugs my dear friend*

I hope all these links do leave you entertained. Seeing how I haven't posted on my blog in months, I can't point you in that direction. And seeing how I haven't really read blogs hardly at all in the last week, I can't even be much help there. Sheesh, Ana...I'm never of any help when you're looking for suggestions, am I? :P

Oh, and I must agree with Yvann--I think that is the cutest lolcat ever. Poor kitteh.

  27. Thank you so much for the kind words and well-wishes, everyone. And thank you to those of you who left me links. I shall now spend the afternoon leisurely pursuing them. I knew I could count on you.

PS: Debi, don't make me smack you :P

  30. Hey Ana, I hope you're feeling 100% again soon. The flu seems to be going around here too (I am guessing that is it, if it isn't well then my comment just looks silly). Sickness always happens when you can least use it, doesn't it?

I feel a little silly for doing this, but I thought maybe you might like to read on this book I read in relation to Vindication, The Memoirs of Emma Courtney. Not that my post is especially good.

Anyway, hope you feel better soon!

  31. Oh, Ana! I hope you are feeling well again soon, and that you are bundled up with great books and some tea. I have been away too, so I know what you mean about getting caught up with the blogs!

  32. Oh I hope you are feeling better today!! Trish from Hey Lady introduced us to a blog about Friendships that I've never heard of before. She's even coming out with a book about it soon!

Heh, don't worry, you didn't miss anything earth-shattering on my blog ;) I reviewed The Moving Toyshop and the Maisie Dobbs books.

This week is Virago Reading Week, but I'm pretty sure you know about that. I'm reading my first ever Angela Carter for it at the moment! :)

  36. I'm glad to hear you're recovering and will be back on your feet soon! On Sunday I posted a invitation for people to let me know if we have some TBR overlap that they might be interested in informally reading together. You certainly don't have to join me, but just in case: http://erinreads.com/2011/01/sunday-salon-read-with-me/

  42. Whew, glad you're feeling better. Stay well! When I first saw this post I meant to suggest you read Feathers by Jacqueline Woodson. Short and sweet and full of hope. So lovely, and lovely writing too. You can check out my review, but it's more me fussing about whether or not it's a good book club read or not. ;)

Anyway, and then I realized I'd *meant* to comment and never did!
