"Young Adult Friction"

Dear blog of mine: I promise I have not forsaken you. I'm having a rather busy week at work (not with the letters, which wait for me ever-patient, but because we're hosting an event), so I think the wisest course of action is to take a mini-blogging break. I'm excited to tell you about the very awesome graphic adaptation of On the Origin of Species I read last weekend, about what I thought of Little Women (which yes, I read for the first time recently), and about If You Come Softly by Jacqueline Woodson (*sniff*). But those will all have to wait until next week - as will have replying to comments, e-mail, and visiting all your lovely blogs.

I'll be back on Sunday with the 43th Edition of the Bookworms Carnival - which you can still submit posts for, by the way. The more the merrier, and there's even bribery involved! Meanwhile, here's a somewhat bookish song that I like. Have a great (rest of) week!

Jacqueline Woodson is my fav author, I have a few of her book reviews on my blog if you would like to read. Just click the link to the left Book Reviews or Fav. Author, she is amazing. She also wrote a wonderful picture book about her life gerations, a must read.

  8. Oooh, I love it...I was going to e-mail my official music picker-outers this morning and ask for today's song...but look, you're way ahead of me! And I loved it! And that cover in the video of Are You There God...same cover I have on my tattered 30+ year old copy...made me smile.

Hang in there, Ana...Saturday afternoon's coming! Then I suggest a day off to do nothing but read and relax!

  9. Never heard this song, but I'm loving it instantly.
I know it's completely Off Topic, but do you know the band Noah and the whale? I've recently discovered them (along with Laura Marling who went solo not long ago)and I think you'd like them. They are weird and fun, and kinda nerdy-looking too. In a good way obviously.

anyway, take your time with all the blog-related stuff, and after that let us know how you got on with the event organising (what is it?).

  10. Good luck with your event! I think we are all feeling a bit of stress around the blogosphere this time of year. I have reviews to write but would rather read all of your blogs in the limited time I have available this week. I LOVE that Are you There God, It's Me Margaret is one of the books in the video and Fifteen by Beverly Cleary...Priceless!!

  12. Can't wait to hear what you thought of Little Women. It's one of my top 3 favorites (that one, The Stand by Stephen King, and Alice's Adventures in Wonderland & Through the Looking Glass). Enjoy your break!

  16. Thank you so much, everyone! I survived the conference, so that's good :P I'm glad you enjoyed the song and video! I was excited to see the books as well, and they aren't even ones I've read :P

Valentina, the event was a conference on performance studies. I didn't get to see more than a couple of talks, but what I did see was pretty interesting! About Noah and the Whale, I've heard of them because there's some sort of Emmy connection there...either she played with them or opened for them, or maybe they're just part of the same circle. I have a few mp3s, but I still haven't got any of their albums! They do sound like a band I'd love if I got to know them better. As for Laura Marling, she's been recommended to me a bunch of times. About time I check her out :P
