Mailbox Monday: Best Mail Week Ever

used under a Creative Commons license

This is my first time participating in Mailbox Monday. I had a good mail week. In fact, probably the best mail week ever:

You know what's wonderful? Having sweet and thoughtful friends who know you well and send you packages full of stuff you love even though they live halfway across the world and who make you happy, not just because of how incredibly cool and generous they are, but simply because they exist. Debi and Lightheaded, I cannot thank you enough :D

My new books are:
  • Un Lun Dun by China Mieville
  • Trese: Unreported Murders by Budjette Tan and Kajo Baldisimo
  • The Stand by Stephen King
  • The Lorax by Dr. Seuss
  • A Curious History of Cats by Madeleine Swan
  • Stockings of Buttermilk: American Folktales edited by Neil Philip
I love them and I want to read them all right now!

Last week I also got Let It Snow by John Green, Maureen Johnson and Lauren Myracle (via Bookdepository) and Thessaly: Witch for Hire by Bill Willingham and Shawn McManus (via Bookmooch). Both have already been read, so expect my thoughts on them soon.

What about you? Any cool mail this past week?

  15. Bermudaonion: Thanks :D

Bogsider: This will be my first King novel, actually! I don't know why it took me so long to get to it, especially because when I was younger I was in love with some of the TV adaptations of his stories (anyone remember The Langoliers?). And as we all know, the book is always better :P

Valentina: Wonderful friends from all over the world is the best thing about blogging :D

    Guatami, thank you!

Loren Eaton: Coffee, cookies and books...does life get any better? :D

Alyce: I'm so excited about reading them!

Wendi B: Thanks for welcoming me! I love reading everyone's posts and from now on I'll try to participate as often as I can.

    Serena: Best week ever, really!

Trish: I'd actually never heard of that one before, but it's one of those books I know I'd have got right away if I'd seen it at a bookstore.

Ramya: Thanks! And may you get lots of awesome books in the mail yourself soon :)

Chris: Aren't they sweet? :D Trese is really cool. It's an X-filish series about a murder investigator who has to deal with supernatural creatures from Filipino folklore. What's there not to love? About Let it Snow, the short version is that I loved it. I'll post the long version tomorrow :P

Kailana, I'm glad to hear it!

Ms Bookish: It was quite enjoyable, and the artwork was beautiful. More details soon!

Aviannschild: Thanks for welcoming me :) And it does, doesn't it?

Maree: I know! What cat lover could resist it?

  24. Finally I have internet! Oops, maybe I shouldn't mention it, the LAN connection might hear me and I just might jinx my luck at finally getting a connection :)

Wow, I'm cool and generous :P Thanks. And you're welcome. Again, my apologies for uh, failing to do what I should've done with the Far Side prints :P At least the intention was there :P

Lovely, you now have The Stand. It's one of my favorite books by Stephen King.

  26. Wrong. You've already thanked me way more than enough by being the wonderful, truly special friend that you are! I really hope you enjoy!

Oooh, why do I have the feeling that once you read Un Lun Dun, I'll be digging out Annie's copy to read myself? :)

  27. What a great bunch of books! Deciding on which one to read first will be a dilemma!

K: Awesome! Heading over to see what you got. Mr. Linky was down for a while yesterday, but it's back up now.

    Iliana: isn't it? :D

    Vasilly and Melody, thanks you!

Naida: Me too, and I'm determined that that day will come sooner rather than later.

Cathy: I get most of my books from them. Gotta love the free shipping!

Literary Feline: It made my day! In fact, my whole week.

Ladytink: I'm so looking forward to reading both!

Lightheaded: Absolutely NOTHING to apologize for! And I'm glad you're internet is working. Considering that you're my book twin, the fact that you love The Stand bodes very well :D

tanabata: Now I only need to find the time to read them :P

Debi: Awww. The same right back to you, my dear! I'm really excited about Un Lun Dun. The only problem with having wonderful friends who spoil me is that I want to read every one of the books next :P

    Jenclair: Indeed!

    Stephanie, I hear you.

Andi: Don't they look pet-able and pretty all together like that? :D

  31. Great books, Nymeth!! I drool just by looking at them...

I've read Un Lun Dun but liked Gaiman's Neverwhere better.

  32. Wow, good for you! :) I keep seeing Un Lun Dun in Borders but never bought it. Looking forward to your reviews!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Alice: It's hard for anything to beat Neverwhere in my book, but I still expect to like Un Lun Dun :P

Josette: Hopefully I'll get to it before long!

  34. I absolutely LOVE The Lorax. My daughter and I have read it probably a hundred times, and I never get sick of reading it. I was so happy to see the story's included in a big Seuss anthology I got her for Christmas, so now we have our own copy. We monopolized the library's. LOL

You've got a lot of great titles. Happy reading!
