Books I could have done without?None!
Any new authors? Will I read them again? Quite a few new authors. All the authors in my challenge with Rhinoa were new to me, actually. Some (Anne Bishop and Charles de Lint) I have already read again. The others I plan to. I want to read the rest of Juliet Marillier's Sevenwaters trilogy, and then read her Wildwood Dancing, another fairy tale retold and also the first in a series. As for the Classics Challenge, it was my first time reading Austen and Charlotte Brontë. I've just finished Northanger Abbey, and I plan on reading the rest of Austen's novels. I also want to read more Brontë too, but I'm not sure where to go next. Suggestions?
Best thing about the challenge? My challenge with Rhinoa led me to discover some authors that are right up my alley! She knows my taste well and picked some great books. for me to read I look forward to doing this again next year. As for the Classics Challenge, it gave me extra motivation to read some books I'd been meaning to get to for years. Thank you for hosting, Trish!
This leaves me with 6 challenges to complete before the end of the year. I'm actually optimistic, mostly before I'm one or two books away from completing most. I'm also feeling a lot less stressed out about them than I was a while ago, which is always good. Still, I'm going to be careful not to go overboard next year!
What about you? How are you doing with your challenges?
Nymeth, I just have to tell you that you're my reading hero. I wish I could read as fast as you do! You've finished two in the past week, whereas I celebrate when I've finished one challenge -- all year! You're awesome. =)
ReplyDeletewow, way to go!
ReplyDeletePride & Prejudice is one of my favorites.

Congrats!!! What a great feeling to finish challenges!!
ReplyDeleteWell done! Congrats on completing two more challenges. I'm still optimistic about mine. I have 5 more to complete by the end of the year, two are close, the other 3 are sort of close, so we'll see. Realistically I probably won't complete all of them but I'll keep trying. I tried to be selective about which challenges to join this year but I think I need to be even more so next year. They're still fun though. :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on finishing the challenges! I just posted an update of my first challenge. It's an ambitious list, but so far so good. :)

so many challenges... so little time!
ReplyDeletecongrats of all the reading you do!! Carl's is the only challenges I join ..and that's more than enough for me! lol
Congratulations, Nymeth!
ReplyDeleteI tried looking for The Handmaid's Tale at the warehouse sale but couldn't find any. Surprisingly, there weren't any Nora Roberts books too. :(
Congrats and well done, Nymeth!
ReplyDeleteI'm definitely looking forward to reading The Black Jewels Trilogy and Jane Eyre soon! I also have Lolita, Daughter of the Forest in my pile... not sure when I'll read them but at least they're in my possession! ;P
Wow, good for you Nymeth-congrats! I'm having problems with Little Women so of course I'm now behind in the Classics Challenge. Yikes.
ReplyDeleteWay to go! You finished the Classics Challenge with several months to spare! I am going to be reading Agnes Grey by Anne Bronte, which is a lesser known book by a lesser known Bronte sister.
ReplyDeleteYay good for you! I'm so behind on my challenges, perhaps I should pick less next time! I'm glad you are enjoying Anne Bishop, Rhinoa has totally got me hooked on her.
ReplyDeleteI haven't read any other Brontes either, so I look forward to hearing what everyone recommends.
Congrats! You are tearing through the books, Nymeth!
ReplyDeleteWay to go, Nymeth! Congrats!
ReplyDeleteI've always thought that yours and Rhinoa's challenge was such a cool idea! Glad you enjoyed all your books...that's pretty good for two whole challenges.
well done!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I'll finish my challenges this year, maybe one, if I'm lucky!but the good thing is I don't feel bad about it:P
J.S. Peyton: This is the result of my borderline obsessive-compulsive need to achieve goals once I've set them :P I know it's good as far as reading challenges go, but I wouldn't recommend it on every area of life :P
ReplyDeleteNaida, I enjoyed it a lot!
Kristina: It is very satisfying :)
Tanabata: Good luck with yours! They are fun. I'm going to cut back next year, but I don't want to drop them altogether.
Anna: You are doing great so far!
Deslily: Carl's challenges are extra special for me...even if I were to quit challenges altogether, I'd open an exception for those :P
Alice, thanks! And sorry that you didn't manage to find those books :(
Melody: I enjoy you enjoy them all!
ReplyDeleteDar: Don't worry, there's plenty of time, still! And you can always replace it if it's really not working for you.
Laura: I've read Emily and Charlotte, I need to try Anne next. I look forward to hearing what you think of Agnes Grey.
Mariel: Rhinoa is converting everyone into an Anne Bishop fan, it seems :P I definitely need to join less challenges next time too. But so far, so good - I'm still having fun!
Carl: Thanks!
Debi: I really loved the idea when she first suggested it! It'd be great to see some other bloggers try it too!
Valentina: That's the way to go, there really is nothing to feel bad about!
Congrats on finishing with two!! I've completely fallen off the classics wagon and need to hurry up and jump back on! I think I have five challenges left and a lot of it is cross-posted so I don't feel too overwhelmed. But except for the read-a-thon I haven't really been getting any reading done lately. Eeeks!
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I love the challenge that you and Rhinoa did together--how cool is that?
Congrats on finishing 2 more challenges! You go girl!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on finishing these! You're awesome! :-)
ReplyDeleteTrish: My reading was quite slow for a few days after the Read-a-thon. I guess trying to read for 24 hours does that to you :P But there's still plenty of time to catch up with challenges. I'm glad you like the idea of my challenge with Rhinoa! Like I was telling Debi, feel free to use it. I'd love to see other bloggers pair up and do the same.
ReplyDeleteTeddy Rose and Joanna, thank you :D
Congratulations on finishing two more challenges, Nymeth. You inspire me!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on finishing your challenges - was the challenge with Rhinoa the one were you guys picked books for each other? That is so cool.
ReplyDeleteI'm intrigued by Lady Chatterley's Lover. Handmaid's Tale is a favorite of mine so I will have to check this one out and see what I think. I can't say I've been very tempted by it before but now I am :)
Robin, thank you!
ReplyDeleteIliana: Yes, that was the one. She was the one to have the idea and I thought it was great! Lady Chatterley's Lover was so different from what I expected, and from what I think the general impression people have of it is. I hope you enjoy it if you get to it.
Congrats on finishing another 2 challenges. I have one more to read for our challenge which I hope to read before the end of this month. I am so glad you liked the books I picked and can't wait for next years list!
