Read-a-thon: End of the Event Meme

Hi everyone. I had a shower and slept for 3 hours and half and I'm feeling much, much better now.

1. Which hour was most daunting for you?
Hours 22 and 23, when sleep deprivation was really kicking in, and I had to fight an Epic Battle with Mr. Linky. Well, it wasn't as dramatic as that, but you get the idea. Fortunately Hannah and Dewey were there to help me!

2. Could you list a few high-interest books that you think could keep a Reader engaged for next year?
The Fables comics worked really well!

3. Do you have any suggestions for how to improve the Read-a-thon next year?
Maybe organize the cheerleaders so that each one is responsible for visiting a specific number of readers. That way they'd feel less overwhelmed and they'd get to visit each reader more often.

4. What do you think worked really well in this year’s Read-a-thon?
Everything worked well, I think! People seemed to be having fun and there were no major problems :)

5. How many books did you read?

6. What were the names of the books you read?
  • Faerie Tale by Raymond E. Feist (the last third)
  • Fantastic Stories by Terry Jones
  • Goodbye, Tsugumi by Banana Yoshimoto
  • Fables: The Mean Seasons by Bill Willingham
  • Fables: Homelands by Bill Willingham
7. Which book did you enjoy most?
Probably Homelands, but I really enjoyed them all!

8. Which did you enjoy least?
Fantastic Stories, I guess, but it was still really enjoyable.

9. If you were a Cheerleader, do you have any advice for next year’s Cheerleaders?
Not a Cheerleader this time.

10. How likely are you to participate in the Read-a-thon again? What role would you be likely to take next time?
If I can I will! I'd like to read again.

My thanks to Dewey and the other helpers, and also to everyone who stopped by to comment and encourage me, even if they weren't cheerleaders or even participants. Dar and Deslily, you two were great. Everyone was great! Your comments meant a lot to me.

  1. Hey, you did well! You read Good!

Dar and also Veens did very well cheerleading!

  2. Oh my, how you put me to shame...I can't believe you read five books with everything else you had going on! Glad they were all winners!

Your idea about giving the cheerleaders each their own batch of readers sounds great! They did such a fabulous job, but it must have been overwhelming for them. And while not on the inside to know how it really worked for you all, from the outside perspective, it sure seemed like things went really well for you, Dewey, Trish, and Hannah. It's so generous of Dewey to host this, and it was so very wonderful of you all to help her out like you did!!!

  3. guatami, thanks! The cheerleaders really were great :)

Debi: Keep in mind that I'd already read 2/3s of one, another one was 80 pages long, and 2 were comics :P I imagine cheerleading to have been quite a bit overwhelming. It was for me last time, and there weren't as many readers then! As for co-hosting, it was a lot less stressful than I thought it might be. We were all on gtalk helping each other out, so that worked really well. Having several people do it really makes things easy!

  4. it sounds like everyone had a good time and that's what counts... gee you'd think we all liked books or something huh? heheh

  5. Glad you had a such great time--and I'm definitely glad that you were able to read with us this time (and of course leave your continuously awesome comments).

Good idea about the cheerleaders--I'm sure it is really overwhelming to try and visit EVERYONE. I know I wanted to visit more people but it was all I could do just to keep up with those blogs I subscribe to.

Thanks for being so great, Nymeth!

  6. You were absolutely incredible throughout the whole challenge Nymeth :) I don't know how you did all you did and still kept chipper the whole time! lol. Congrats on getting so much done!

  7. Nymeth - I've seen you warmly congratulating loads of participants so I felt it only right that I do the same.

Well done for both your impressive total and your incredible inspiration!
    You're a star

  8. I'm so impressed that you managed to do administrative stuff and read all at the same time!

And I am well on-board the Fables train. By about 1 AM, when I was at the "ooooh, pretty pictures" stage of things, they were a godsend!

  9. You did very well, Nymeth! Well done! I really enjoy reading all your updates. I think I would like to participate in the future Read-a-thon... *GRIN*

  10. You did really well especially since you were busy with administrative stuff and not even reading full time!
And how can you say you weren't a cheerleader? You stopped by lots of blogs to encourage us on, that sounds like cheerleading to me! :P
Thanks again, you did a great job!

  11. A huge thanks to you Nymeth, you were fabulous! :-)

  12. Wow, congratulations! You made a lot of headway in your reading AND were really active in the administration. *round of applause*

  13. Congrats on 5 books!!!! What a great read-a-thon!!

  14. You did so awesome Nymeth. I still can't believe you got all that reading done even with all your admin stuff. I think next time I'll brave it and join in the reading.

  15. Deslily: you'd think that indeed :P

Trish: awww, thank YOU! This read-a-thon was even better because so many of my favourite bloggers, like you, were around for it :) And the same happened to me...I could only keep up with some readers. I wanted to have visited more people.

Chris: You were incredible too! And I think all that caffeine was a big part of what kept me going :P

    Robert Burdock: awww, thank you!

Fyrefly: lol, I reached the "ooooh, pretty pictures" stage pretty quickly :P yay for Fables!

Alice, I hope you do participate next time! It's a whole lot of fun :D

tanabata: Well, not an official cheerleader :P Like Trish was saying, I ended up only being able to keep up with a limited number of people. Thank you too for visiting me, it was very much appreciated!

    Joanna: So were you!

Andi: Thanks! Everything went really smoothly on the administrative side, so there wasn't all that much for me to do.

Kristina: It really was great! I had a blast :)

Dar, I hope you do join! I bet you'll have a great time!

  16. Wow, you've done a great job, Nymeth! I'm glad you had a great time reading those books and that you had fun! I really enjoyed reading your read-a-thon posts, thanks for sharing! :)

  17. Melody, I'm glad you enjoyed reading them! Hopefully one of these days you'll be able to join us for a read-a-thon :)

    monnibo: thanks!

  18. Wow Nymeth you did so much and got all that reading done, fabulous job!

I can't wait to hear what you thought of Mean Seasons and Homelands :)

  19. Congrats Nymeth, you really did well! I think I may get involved next time, perhaps as a cheerleader.

Thank you so much for taking the time to comment - interaction is one of my favourite things about blogging and a huge part of what keeps me going.
