Winners! (and Good Causes, Awards and Cats)

First of all, my sincere thanks to all of those who took the time to comment on the Bookworms Carnival posts. I'd buy you all books if I could, but since I can't, I let the good old Names-in-a-Hat method determine the winners. The first name out was:

Lightheaded - congratulations! E-mail me saying which book you want and I will get it to you asap.

And the second name out was: Tracy - congratulations! Please get in touch with Dewey to claim your prize.

Lisa Roe at Online Publicist e-mailed me about a fundraising to help fight breast cancer, and I thought I'd help spread the word. Click here to find out more.

Strange Horizons is still having its annual Fund Drive, and the prize to a lucky winner among those who help spread the word this week is getting Tim Pratt to write a story for them, plus receiving copies of two of his books as a bonus. How absolutely awesome is that? Since Tim Pratt is my favourite writer that I barely know, there was no way I could not enter. (It's not just about the prize though. Strange Horizons is one of my favourite sites and I definitely think it deserves to get donations. And because a little incentive is always good, I will add that you can win some very cool prizes by donating!)

I'd like to thank my friend Debi for passing the Sharing the Love Award on to me. This prize was started by Crystal, who is trying to raise awareness for organ donation, and this makes it extra special. Here's what this award is about:
Share this award with all those blogs out there that you love. All the people who make you smile. All those that make you laugh. All those that make your day. All those that leave uplifting comments on your blog. All I ask, is that you include a link to this post with the award and ask your recipient to do the same.
I know this is probably against the rules, and believe me, there are a bunch of people out there I'd like to pass this to, but I'm just going to have to give it back to Debi. Debi is always incredibly kind and encouraging to me, but this is not why I'm giving it back to her. It's because I like her so much. She's an incredibly friendly, intelligent, warm, unpretentious, genuine and enthusiastic person. I love reading her posts, be they about books, about her wonderful family or about life in general. The blogging world would not be the same without her. So thank you for everything, Debi, and please stick around!

It's now time for some gratuitous cat pictures! (Well, not entirely gratuitous...they are also for Max.) I love love love the macrovision section at Stuffonmycat. Unfortunately, I don't have a good enough camera to take the kind of amazing close-up pictures that they have there, but here's the best I could do:

  1. yeah! Thanks so much! I truly enjoyed particpating and will be in the future too:)

  2. Congrats to the winners. I fully intended to get in on that one, but time ran out on me. You did a fabulous job with the carnival!

  3. congratulations to the winners, and thanks once again to you, nymeth, for editing and assembling such a great Carnival...and it's really too bad that your cat seems so high strung and unable to relax ;)

  4. Well, you made me nearly cry, and you made Max squeal with delight! Thank you Nymeth. Seriously, from the bottom of my heart!

And I should let you know, Max has had match-making on his mind...he thinks Pedrez would make a nice boyfriend for our cat Aldo. (They really look so much alike!) I think Max just wants a pile of kittens :) Thanks for posting that...you really have no idea how excited he gets to see Pedrez!

And I want to second Natasha's words...you really did do a fabulous job with the Carnival! I still haven't been to every post, but I plan to...it's really quite a great mix!

  5. Congrats to the winners! :)

I know I've said it but I'm going to say it again: You deserved that award, Nymeth!! :D

I love the pic. So cute! Please keep them coming! ;) And finally, thank you for hosting the carnival, it's been fun reading everyone's posts!

  6. You take the cutest cat pictures!

    And congrats to the winners!!

  7. Awww...what a cutie!! And I'm not even a cat person, so you know I must mean it!!

The Carnival was fantastic!! Excellent job!

  8. Thanks for putting together a great Carnival. I really enjoyed this (my first) Carnival, although I'm still reading the posts! And congratulations to the winners! Also, congratulations on your award -- it fits perfectly.

  9. Tracy, I'm glad to hear it :)

Natasha: The fact that not many people completed the task made me realize that I should have given you all more time...maybe two weeks. Ah well, if I do something similar again in the future I'll know!

Ken: I know! I keep telling him he needs to stop taking life so seriously and learn to relax every now and then, but will he listen? No. :P

Debi: You almost made me cry too, so we're even :P I don't think I've ever seen Aldo. I demand pictures! :P

Melody: Thank you, you are too sweet :) And I will keep them coming!

Alessandra: It's not hard with such a great model :P

    Stephanie, thank you :)

Robin: Aww, thanks :) Like I was telling Natasha, I should have given you more time... next time I'll know.

  10. Yay! Thank you very much! Yay! *Insert jumps for joy action here* Gee, after having connectivity problems with my PC this is such a welcome, welcome surprise! Thanks again. Will email you in a bit.

  11. You are much deserving of this special award!! And I love the picture of your cat--makes me want to go cuddle on the couch with mine. :)

  12. Lightheaded: lol :P You're welcome!

    Trish: Aww, thank you :)

  13. Aw, little Max!

I heart Debi too, for all those same reasons!

Tracy has contacted me, just to let you know things are moving forward with that. :) You really did do a wonderful job with the carnival!
