Bookworms Carnival: First Winner and How to Win Two More Books

First of all, the winner of the first Bookworms Carnival draw is Rebecca at Adventures in Reading. Congratulations, Rebecca! Please e-mail me at untuneric at gmail dot com with your mailing address and book of choice. Rebecca wins whichever book she wants among those reviewed in the Carnival.

Don't forget that you can still win one of the Carnival books. The first giveaway was only open to Carnival participants, but this one is for everyone. Here's what you have to do: Until Wednesday, the 25th of June, read and comment on each of the Carnival posts. The Carnival has a total of 34 posts and I'm giving you 10 days. That averages 3.4 posts a day. Then come back here and leave me a comment letting me know you're done. (And because I'm curious, you can also add which book you'll pick if you win.) If you've already commented on some of the Carnival posts, then of course those will count too.

Two names will be drawn among those who complete the task: one winner will get a book from me, and the other a book from Dewey.

Good luck to all the participants, and I hope you all enjoy the Carnival.

Edit to add: It has come to my attention that readers are having technical difficulties when trying to comment on some of the posts. I just wanted to let you all know that issues like that will be taken into account. That is to say, if you comment on all the posts where you could comment, you will definitely still be entered in the draw.

  1. Hate to be a spoil sport, but Mikko @ Mikko reads requires a sign in at moveable type in order to comment. I'm only up to her blog so this might be an issue at other blogs also.... Some folks don't like to join various sites with their email addresses (another possible issue?)

Sorry for raining on the parade....

  2. Tasses, you're not the first one to let me know. Sorry about that, Mikko's was one of the first submissions I received and I had forgotten that there were problems. I've just edited the main post to let everyone know that this will be taken into account - that is to say, if you comment on all the other posts you will definitely still qualify for the draw. Again, my apologies.

  3. I've commented on all but three.

I'll try again on two of the ones that weren't working for me.

Sarah at Pussreboots, I couldn't find a place to leave a comment. Maybe it was hiding in plain sight, but I sure didn't see it.

Natasha, I couldn't get her page to load. I read her blog regularly, but today it just wasn't working for me. I'll try again later.

And Mikko. I did bother with registering, but the confirmation email still hasn't come and here it is two and a half hours later.

  4. Becky, at Pussreboots the "Leave a Comment" link is normally at the bottom of the post, but it seems that that's only the case with posts that are on the first page...once they become part of the archive they disappear. Unless we're both blind :P But I'll e-mail her asking. And yes, Natasha's blog should be back later. Thanks for participating!

  5. Becky: Sarah said she normally turns off comments for older posts because of spam, but comments on the Carnival post are now back on.

  6. Thanks for letting me know, Nymeth. I've now left comments on all but that initial one...the Mikko one.

  7. I have now left comments on every one except for the Mikko reads one where you have to register. My husband is a Nascar addict so I sat with my laptop reading the carnival fun while he screamed at the screen (opposites do attract - 29 years together!).

Thanks so much for a great carnival (my first). There were some fantastic posts and I added considerably to my TBR pile!

  8. I've commented on all posts but Mikko's--I tried registering with Movable Type but the confirmation e-mail just won't arrive.

Thank you so much for hosting such a great carnival! Some of the post were really fantastic!

  9. Great! I'm going to find time to go through all the posts. Wonderful job. It ends up that the server that my blog is hosted on has been spotty due to an electrical storm in Canada. It has gone down a few times but only for a few minutes. Hopefully, it will be back to 100% shortly.

  11. Becky, Tasses and Alexandra, got your names in the draw. Good luck!

Natasha, thanks for letting us know!

Melissa, thank you, I'm glad you think so :)

  12. Hello Nymeth! I really enjoyed going through the posts; now I need to find time jotting down all the news books and new artists I discovered and searching for them in the bookstores here :) Good job indeed! You deserve a pat on the back (not to mention lots of chocolates) for putting this up!

I've pretty much left a comment in all except Mikko, hahaha! I still have two comments awaiting moderation (I left a comment with Sarah at Pussreboots but it hasn't appeared yet, while I wait for the approval of my comment in Michelle's In the Louvre).

So there. Does that mean my name's in the hat? Hahaha!

Again, great job! And really great posts from all participants indeed!

  13. Lightheaded: Thank you :) I'm glad to hear you enjoyed going through the posts. The Carnival was painful on my wishlist too :P And yes, your name is in the hat. Good luck!

  14. I commented on all the posts but Mikko's but still enjoyed reading the post. I was struck by reading all these how much we fairy tales affect us all visually. There were a ton of great illustrations posted and I know that even if a fairy tale didn't have an illustration, each of us had some picture in mind. Thanks for this Carnival theme and hopefully I will join in on the fun in the future Carnivals.

  15. Amanda, I completely agree with you...which is why I was so happy to receive submissions about illustrators. I'm glad you enjoyed the Carnival, and your name is in the draw :)
